Hosta By Kelley

Garden Basics

The garden size is 3 ft. 8 in. wide by 8 ft. 8 in. long.  The theme of this garden is: Chaos and Destruction.  As you look at the table below you might notice that the space does not match the plants.  For my gardening purposes that's acceptable.  If a hosta does not have space it can, and will grow in bonsai style (in miniature).  And in the end this is likely why many of my plants never grow to be full size; again that is acceptable.  My philosophy of gardening is growing plants for their comparative beauty.  If you were to walk around my garden you might begin to notice that each and every hosta in it stands out with something unique against the others.  That is deliberate in the attempt to get the visitor to see and think about what is different.  At the human sociological level the plants do have differences, and yet still live in harmony — so what can't humans?
